Even though Al Holbert was best known for his achievements in sports car racing, he competed in 19 NASCAR Cup races, producing four top-10 finishes. His best finish in NASCAR’s premier series came in April 1978 when he placed seventh at Darlington, South Carolina.

The NASCAR world has been rocked by the death of another driver this weekend as veteran Nick Joanides has died. Joanides, 55, was a star on the West Coast scene most recently making three starts in the ARCA West Series. He also drove in the NASCAR Xfinity Series when it was called the Nationwide Series.
