Michael McKean played a state trooper who met Steve Martin and John Candy on their journey home for Thanksgiving in Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987.) Originally, McKean’s role was a bit larger. In the cut portion of the scene, the Trooper explained to Neal and Del that they had driven over 100 miles past their Chicago destination and were actually in Wisconsin.
